High Altitude Amateur-Radio.

Tracking upper air sounding is our passion.

Welcome to OpenWX.de

Early automated upper-air sounding systems were using RDF wind finding and were able to track qualified radiosondes from multiple manufacturers.
Radio amateurs all over the world have been working on  radiosonde decoding possible by free & open source software. OpenWX.de is visualizing free radiosonde monitoring data for non-commercial purposes.

Some Feature Highligths ...

We are a small crew of enthusiast radio amateurs. We started in 2010 launching our first amateur radio high altitude balloon (Project HAAROB).
Over many years and our next balloon launches
we were working on free tools for decoding, prediction and visualization solutions.

In 2019 we decided to start with the mapping and gateway network focussed on top functionality and providing more top features in OpenWX monitoring.

Statistics Dashboard

A real highlight is our statistics dashboard based on a seperate database providing several data for all our RX-gateways to check and optimize your station.

Database Search

Looking for a specific launch you can use OpenWX Archive to search for specific soundings by date, launch site or the radiosonde ID.
